International trademarks: each territory reviews protection
An international application does not give automatic worldwide approval. Protection depends on designated territories.

After an international trademark application through the Madrid System, the intellectual property offices in the designated territories examine protection under their own laws. An international registration does not create unconditional protection everywhere. Identify the markets where protection is needed and check each territory’s examination process and any matters that require a response.
